Summer Internship Program

The New Jersey Reentry Corporation (NJRC) is a nonprofit entity dedicated to providing reentry services to court-involved persons who have typically recently left state prison, county jail, and addiction treatment centers. An intern would be working in a structured internship to provide two basic services:

  1. State legislation and public policy are crafted under the direction of the NJRC Chairman. Interns respond to the policy needs of program participants in crafting state public policy and effectuating relevant legislation. Past efforts have included research publications set forth on www.njreentry.org listed under "Publications."
  2. Working with NJRC program participants under the direction of Site Directors, Summer Interns are assigned to one of each of the eight NJRC sites to address federal and state benefits, legal issues, including outstanding warrants, fines, and encumbrances, employment and training, and facilitating medical and behavioral health care needs. The Intern will work directly with our court-involved participants, who, in addition to their criminal court involvement, frequently confront numerous outstanding challenges.

Internships typically last ten weeks but may be extended upon agreement of both the NJRC and the Legal Intern.
