NJRC Save the Date: H.R. 1 Staff Training

Food stamps and health care are essential supports for the court-involved persons, veterans, and persons in recovery that NJRC serves.
In New Jersey, more than 1.85 million residents are enrolled in NJ FamilyCare, and nearly 1.1 million New Jerseyans are food insecure, including more than 270,000 children.
The New Jersey Department of Human Services projects that, under H.R. 1 / Public Law 119-21, more than 300,000 NJ FamilyCare participants could lose health coverage, and SNAP participation could be reduced by as many as 47,000 people in any given month.
NJRC is grateful to the Sherrill Administration, and particularly Commissioner Dr. Stephen M. Cha, for their partnership in preparing New Jersey for these significant federal changes.
NJRC’s H.R. 1 staff training will prepare our team to screen Medicaid and SNAP separately, identify exemptions, preserve documentation, and ensure participants are not disconnected from food, health care, treatment, or recovery supports due to paperwork or misunderstanding.
