NJRC Launches Free Mental Health Counseling Initiative for New Jersey Veterans

New partnership with Cohen Veterans Network and Easterseals provides confidential counseling and expanded access to mental health support for veterans statewide.

November 2026

The New Jersey Reentry Corporation (NJRC) is expanding its commitment to supporting New Jersey veterans through a new mental health initiative offering free, confidential counseling services in partnership with the Cohen Veterans Network and the Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Easterseals.

Featured in a recent NJ.com Mosaic article, the initiative is designed to help veterans access mental health care before personal challenges become crises. The program provides every NJRC-referred veteran with a comprehensive social work evaluation and up to 12 individual counseling sessions per episode of need.

Counseling is provided by licensed mental health professionals and is available through telehealth throughout New Jersey. Services are offered at no cost to veterans, with no waitlist and no discharge-status requirement. Veterans can receive support for concerns involving anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress, relationships, employment, family matters, and other personal challenges.

The partnership reflects NJRC’s broader approach to veteran services, recognizing that successful transitions to civilian life require more than employment and housing assistance. Through its statewide network, NJRC connects veterans with mental health care, addiction treatment, housing support, healthcare, benefits assistance, legal services, and workforce development opportunities.

The initiative also emphasizes early intervention and making it easier for veterans to seek help. Veterans do not have to navigate the process alone: NJRC staff help coordinate referrals and connect individuals with the appropriate level of care and additional support when needed.

NJRC is grateful to the Cohen Veterans Network and Easterseals for their partnership and shared commitment to ensuring veterans have access to the care and resources they deserve.

Any NJ Veteran. Every NJ Veteran.
